Andrea Gail 1:30
Code: 3BB7026Product detailed description
Description: On September 20, 1991, she sailed from the port of Gloucester, Massachusetts
fishing boat Andrea Gail. With a crew of 6 men, she headed for swordfish hunting in the shallows of the Grand Banks off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Coincidentally, she got into a terrible storm like what meteorologists call a "Perfect Storm," a perfect death trap from which there was no escape. The fictional story of the last days of the ship and its crew described in Seabastian Junger's book Perfect Storm became a bestseller and the film adaptation by director Wolfgang Petersen from 2000 was very successful. The 1:30 scale kit is intended for moderately advanced shipbuilders.
Andrea Gail has a hull of classic wooden construction with plywood lining at the top and plank at the bottom, plywood deck and superstructure. The kit contains all the laser-cut wooden parts and moldings needed to complete the model, plastic and metal mock-up accessories (eg position lights, anchors, barrels, etc.), a ship's shaft with a housing and a 45 mm three-bladed propeller.
To drive the model, a 500-600 series DC motor, at least a 30 A bidirectional regulator (depending on the motor) with a 6-7 cell NiMH or 2-3S LiPo battery with a capacity of 3-5000 mAh are planned.
In principle, even the most ordinary two-channel RC set is enough to control the basic functions; common standard servo is suitable for rudder control. But for the right modeler, of course, it is an "obligation" to add as many model functions as possible (lights, sound module, etc.), which will require the use of a multi-channel RC kit - and there are never enough channels.
