Andrea Gail 1:60
Code: 3BB6008Product detailed description
Description: On September 20, 1991, the fishing boat Andrea Gail sailed from the port of Gloucester, Massachusetts. With a crew of 6 men, she headed for swordfish hunting in the shallows of the Grand Banks off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Coincidentally, she got into a terrible storm like what meteorologists call a "Perfect Storm," a perfect death trap from which there was no escape. The fictional story of the last days of the ship and its crew described in Seabastian Junger's book Perfect Storm became a bestseller, and the film adaptation of director Wolfgang Petersen from 2000 was also very successful. Andrea Gail is intended for moderately advanced shipbuilders; is designed as a non-floating desktop model.
Andrea Gail has a hull of classic wooden construction made of laser-cut parts with a plank plating complemented by balsa blocks, a wooden deck and a superstructure. The kit contains all the wooden and plastic parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories (eg position lights, anchor, propeller, etc.).
