What we know about the exploits of Blackbeard, the ill-famed pirate, is a mix of history, legend and fiction. Edward Teach, purportedly his real name, boarded and plundered an enormous number of ships, which made him the infamous ‘Terror of the Seas’, even though this adventurous life of his lasted only twenty months. He was such a terrifying person that his victims were paralyzed with fear and surrendered immediately upon seeing him.
