Product detailed description

Description: HMS Victory, perhaps - at least for the British - the most famous warship of all time. The 226-foot-long ship carried 104 guns, manned by most of the 850-member crew, and the construction used wood equivalent to about 40 hectares of forest. Launched in 1765, still with a Latin sail on the back mast and blinds on the front, it was fully equipped and taken over for military service in 1778. It was continuously modernized and equipped with a tarpaulin, killer whales and kite. Since its inception, it has participated in a number of battles with the French fleet in the war for American independence and then in the Napoleonic Wars. It became a legend on October 21, 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar, when it was the flagship of Admiral Nelson, who also perished on it. However, he lived long enough to learn that his brave maneuver, which had disrupted the battle line of the allied Franco-Spanish fleet and the precise and rapid artillery of British ships, had secured victory. HMS Victory remained in regular service until 1812. As a national monument, it has been reverently restored and can now be visited at Dry Dock No. 2 of the Maritime Museum in Portsmouth, South England, in close proximity to the berths of modern frigates, destroyers and Royal Navy aircraft carriers.

Victory is designed for advanced shipbuilders; is designed as a non-floating desktop model.

Victory has a hull of classic wooden construction made of laser-cut parts with a plank plating and a wooden deck. The kit contains all the wooden, plastic and metal parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories, tarpaulins, etc.
