HMS Warrior 1:100
Code: 3BB5012Product detailed description
Description: HMS Warrior and his sister ship HMS Black Prince were created as a vigorous response to the aggressive French program of building armored warships - "ironclads". Unlike the French La Gloire, which had iron plates
attached to a classic wooden structure, the 60% larger Warrior had a complete iron skeleton and a plating of 2.5 cm wrought iron sheets. The cannons, engine room, boiler room and ammunition depot in the central part of the ship were protected by a "citadel" with layered armor consisting of 114 mm wrought iron plates on a 457 mm teak base. Such armor could not be pierced at all by the then cannons firing massive iron balls. The interior of the ship was divided into watertight bulkheads to reduce the risk of the ship sinking - the first use of this technique. With a displacement of 9,210 tons, the Warrior became the world's most powerful warship on August 1, 1861, making it clear that Britain still rules the seas. During the tests, the Warrior was able to develop a speed of 14 knots with steam propulsion and 13 knots only under sail. To reduce the resistance when sailing under sails, it was possible to lift the propeller into a special shaft and partially pull the chimneys. The armament consisted of a combination of 40- and 68-pound front-loading cannons with a smooth barrel and 110-pound cannons with a screw breech with a grooved barrel - a total of 40 pieces. He was decommissioned in 1883, then served as a depot ship and later as a floating tanker. It was dedicated to the Maritime Trust in 1979, and after a complete refurbishment, you can visit it at the Dock Museum in Portsmouth, England, since 1987, not far from Nelson's HMS Victory.
Warrior is designed for advanced shipbuilders; is designed as a non-floating desktop mockup.
The Warrior has a hull of classic wooden construction from laser-cut parts with a plank plating and a wooden deck. The kit contains all the wooden, plastic and metal parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories, etc.
