Information about the ship on Wikipedia HERE
Bluenose is one of the famous naval yachts that was launched on March 26, 1921 in Nova Scotia. Her design was by William Roué. She was intended as a racing and fishing yacht. She eventually won the International Fishermen's Trophy, a prestigious race in the Grand Banks fishing region. She was then able to defend this trophy for the next 17 years. Importantly, she was not just a racing yacht, but a fishing yacht, catching scallops and other fish. After II. World War II, these yachts became obsolete and she was sold to the West Indies. Here she was eventually wrecked on 28 January 1946. Her yachting success and fame eventually brought about the depiction of this ship on the postage stamp and on the Canadian dime. A replica of this yacht was later built.
