Product detailed description

Description: Woban class YT-146 port tug / fire boat launched at the very end of 1940 was christened the name Hoga (in the Sioux language "fish"). She joined the US Navy in mid-1941; she later moved from her native Norfolk, Virginia across the Panama Canal to service in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. From the very beginning of the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941, she helped wherever it was needed. Hoga dragged the workshop ship Vestal, originally moored to the side of the battleship Arizona, when it was threatened by burning fuel pouring from a mortally wounded Arizona. She assisted in the rescue work on the severely damaged Oglala minesweeper, helping to settle the sinking battleship Nevada safely in the shallows. For hours later, Hoga extinguished fires on the battleships Maryland and Tennessee; later in the afternoon she moved to the battleship Arizona, where she remained until the morning of December 9. The continuous 72-hour deployment received an official award - the commanding officer and the entire crew was praised by the commander-in-chief of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Chester Nimitz. After World War II, the Navy lent Hoga to serve as a fireboat in the California port of Oakland. Under the name Port of Oakland and later City of Oakland, the ship remained here until 1989, when it returned to the US Navy. After refurbishment in 2015, it anchored in Little Rock on the Arkansas River as part of the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum. Along with another museum ship, the USCGC Coast Guard cutter moored in Baltimore, it remains the last of all the warships present in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Hoga has a hull of classic wooden construction made of laser-cut parts with a plank plating, a wooden deck and a superstructure. The kit contains all the wooden and plastic parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories (eg position lights, anchor, propeller, etc.).
