Product detailed description

Description: The steam gun frigate Jylland with 44 guns was the last warship built of wood for the Danish Navy. Her steam engine with power

The 400 HP gave it a respectable speed of 12 knots for its time. For sailing under sails, it was possible to lift the propeller into the shaft in the hull, so its resistance did not brake the ship. Jylland took part in the last battle, in which exclusively wooden warships faced each other: May 9, 1864, during the Second War of Schleswig, a Danish squadron consisting of Jylland, another screw frigate Niels Juel and a screw corvette Hejmdal with an Austro-Prussian squadron clashed off the island of Heligoland including two Austrian screw frigates Schwarzemberg (the flagship of Admiral Tegetthoff) and Radetzka, and three slow Prussian gunboats, which, however, practically did not intervene in the fight. After an initial maneuver, Niels Juel embarked on an artillery battle with Schwarzemberg, and Jylland and Hejmdal exchanged deadly greetings with Radetzky. Jylland suffered considerable damage in the fight, while the fire in Schwarzemberg forced the Austro-Prussian squadron to interrupt the fight and disengage. Although the battle ended in a Danish tactical victory, the dominance of Prussia on land and Austria at sea was not threatened and the war ended in the defeat of Denmark, which lost the territory of Schleswig. At the end of the 19th century, the ship was decommissioned and then dilapidated in various ports for many years. Finally, in 1984, it was towed to a dry dock and, after overhaul, turned into a museum ship located in the Danish town of Ebeltoft. Thanks to this, everyone can enjoy the beauty of this ship, which also belongs to the Czech (albeit under the Austrian flag) maritime history. Jylland is designed for advanced shipbuilders; is designed as a non-floating desktop mockup.

Jylland has a hull of classic wooden construction from laser-cut parts with a plank plating and a wooden deck. The kit contains all the wooden, plastic and metal parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories, tarpaulins, etc.
