After delays since 1663, the construction of the ship was actually started in the spring of 1667 and the ship was commissioned in 1669. It served as an escort vessel for merchant ships on voyages to the Orient. On 10 October 1683, a fire broke out on the bow during a voyage to Cadiz. It spread rapidly until it reached the powder magazine and the ship exploded. Admiral Karbfanger, along with 42 of his 170 sailors and 22 of his 50 soldiers, lost their lives trying to save their ship.
A nice model of the Wappen Won Hambur was produced by Revell. It was later taken over by Fy. Linberg, who started selling the model as Captain Kidd as a pirate ship - thinking that this would make it a more attractive sale. However, this ship had nothing in common with the real Captain Kidd.
A little seen model in our country! Well moulded with many details. The downside, however, is that the grooves between the planks on the deck and the side of the ship below the waterline are positive - or protrude upwards. However, I don't think this minor detail should deter you from buying. Many people don't mind it at all and a more experienced modeller can deal with it. It also includes flexible plastic ladders, moulded sails, a plan, and a pirate flag. The model also has several figures. For inspiration check HERE, where the model is in perfect condition, or on Modelfór a nice build by Petr HERE.
To the photos of the kit I add photos of the model, as it was perfectly made by my friend Petr. You can see how well made wooden pulleys and nicely sewn sails raise the level of the model.
