The ship became famous in the race from China to England, where it carried tea for several years. There were even bets in London as to which ship would be the first to sail from China and bring back a shipment of tea from the new crop. She won that race too. Now this last tea clipper sits in dry dock in Greenwich, near London. During repairs and preservation of the ship a few years ago, there was a major fire and the hull was badly damaged. Nevertheless, support for this ship has been raised again, and even the fundraising which was very successful has again funded the restoration. This culminated in the reopening of the ship itself to visitors in May 2012.
Cutty Sark and The Day of Sail - is a small booklet that chronicles the history of the ship, including daily life on board.
