Viking Ship Roar Ege 1:25
Code: 3BB7003Product detailed description
Description: Roar Ege is an exact replica of an 11th century ship lifted in 1962 from the bottom of the bay in which the Danish port of Roskilde lies. At the same place were the wrecks of another 4 vessels, all loaded with boulders, so they were apparently sunk intentionally in order to block access to the port. The original ship has been carefully restored and is now on display in a specially built hall in Roskilde. In 1982-84, an exact replica called Roar Ege was built with consistent use of original technologies and materials - for example, planks for the plating were not cut into the cut, but were obtained by splitting logs - respecting the natural structure of wood brought a material with higher strength and flexibility. The result was a beautiful ship with excellent nautical properties. The Roar Ege model was a cargo ship capable of carrying 4-5 tons of cargo with a crew of 4-5 men needed to operate the sail and rudder. It probably served the inhabitants of a large homestead to transport goods to the market or coastal transport in the waters around Denmark and the Baltic. Roar Ege is designed for advanced shipbuilders; is designed as a non-floating desktop model.
Roar Ege has a fuselage of classic wooden construction from laser-cut parts with plank plating. The kit contains all the wooden, plastic and metal parts needed to complete the model, mock-up accessories, tarpaulin, etc.
